Of all the album titles Carpathian Forest could have selected, this one is most definitely the most appropriate. Fuck You All is the newest chapter in this controversial Norwegian act’s legacy. To be honest with you, I was somewhat relieved to hear that Carpathian Forest were working on a new album since it will hopefully keep Nattefrost from releasing anymore of his atrocious solo-material. However, now that the album is in my possession, it begs the question of whether or not it lives up to the sheer Satanic force of their previous work.

As far as the expectations surrounding release go, they were at an all time high. Carpathian Forest, known for their insane live shows which always had the possibility of ending with the audience covered in Nattefrost’s rectal matter or being forced to watch their rather ample bassist’s thong make an appearance, is a band you expect to musically match up to their reputation. On albums like Black Shining Leather and Defending The Throne of Evil they did more than that.

Those albums are Norwegian filth of the highest quality, and this one is no different. Fuck You All means exactly what the title implies…Carpathian Forest would like each and every one of you to fornicate yourselves with a foreign object of some sort…and in the name of Satan, no less.

When the album first began, I was a bit taken off guard with the very good production quality. Black Metal isn’t exactly known for it’s production values, but even though Carpathian Forest never fell into the whole “Horrid production is good production” mentality, this is still the best they’ve sounded…ever. All of the instruments (even the bass, surprisingly) come through loud and clear.

As far as the material is concerned…well, it’s Carpathian Forest. What did you expect? Songs about the joys of Christianity or church picnics? If so, you’re either retarded or have just missed the point completely. This is raw, filthy black metal that takes no prisoners and raises the horns of blasphemy from start to finish.

With simplistic, yet ominous riffs, groove-ridden drums and the always-heinous vocals of Nattefrost, this album holds no surprises for those who have come to love Carpathian Forest. Aside from the occasional synth beat or punk grunt from Nattefrost, this is old school black metal from start to finish.

Really…that’s all I can say about the album. For black metal fans everywhere, it’s still Carpathian Forest and they still rule. Nothing more…nothing less. If you liked them before, you’re going to like them now. If you didn’t, this isn’t going to change things.
